"My story is not one of privilege - it is one shared by countless Long Islanders who worked hard, sacrificed, and never gave up. That is who I am, and that is who I will always fight for."

Anthony Portesy

Suffolk County Clerk Candidate

I was born in Brooklyn and raised in Selden by two hardworking parents who taught me the value of honesty, sacrifice, and service. I graduated from Newfield High School and later from Stony Brook University, carrying with me a lesson my father taught me after losing his job when I was young: “Get your education. They can take your job, but they can never take away your education.”

That belief guided me through law school, where I worked nights and weekends at King Kullen as a proud member of UFCW Local 1500. While many of my classmates came from privilege, I balanced classes, grocery store shifts, and long LIRR commutes. Those experiences grounded me and strengthened my commitment to working families and organized labor.

After graduating from New York Law School in 2013, I built a career focused on helping workers, small businesses, and communities succeed. Today, I serve as Deputy General Counsel at Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel, overseeing labor, employment, and operational legal matters for one of Long Island’s largest employers.

My wife Samantha is a school psychologist, and we are excited to welcome our first child this September. Together with our goldendoodle, Jax, we are building our own version of the American Dream right here on Long Island.
